THE MANY FACES OF SHABBY CHIC

When it comes to shabby chic decor, beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder.  These two images couldn't be more different!

While one is soft and dreamy . . . 

the other is sharp and edgy . . . 

From an artist's perspective, they both have beauty, and would be equally at-home in a sweet country cottage, or contemporary urban loft. It all depends upon how you look at it!  

Americana At It's Best

One of the things I love most about country living, is the residents' unabashed willingness to show their love of country.

 This Farm Fresh image was captured just outside of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania in rural Lawrence County, in 2011. Imagine the man-power it took to hang this
great symbol of American patriotism!

Summertime, Sweet Summertime

This image of a weathered, farmhouse with it's mismatched clapboards and peeling paint,  is one of my favorites. All homes within this Old Order Amish community, must be painted white with a robin's egg blue door.

In the summer, the ordinarily drab Amish farmyards are enhanced by bursts of color from kitchen gardens and hanging baskets. If you look closely, you'll see a bright blue
swallow perched on the fence rail.
